Overview

The Operations function of the National Elections Commission (NEC) of South Sudan supports the practical implementation of electoral activities as mandated under the National Elections Act and related legal instruments. It focuses on the organization and coordination of operational tasks required for the delivery of electoral processes.

Scope of Operations

Operational activities of the Commission include support to election-related processes such as:

  • Preparation and implementation of operational plans for electoral activities
  • Organization of field-level electoral operations
  • Deployment and supervision of election personnel
  • Management of election materials and logistical arrangements
  • Support to polling, counting, and related electoral procedures
  • Coordination of operational activities across NEC structures

Field Operations

The Operations function supports NEC offices and activities at national and subnational levels in accordance with the Commission’s organizational structure. This includes facilitating the implementation of electoral activities at state, county, and polling center levels, as applicable.

Logistics and Materials

Operational responsibilities include planning and managing the movement, storage, and handling of electoral materials required for electoral activities, in line with approved procedures and regulations of the Commission.

Polling and Counting Support

Operations supports the organization of polling and counting activities in accordance with electoral laws, regulations, and procedures issued by the Commission.

Institutional Coordination

Operational activities are carried out in coordination with relevant NEC directorates and units, in line with the Commission’s internal governance and decision-making structures.
